OPERATIONALIZATION OF ENFORCEMENT FUNCTIONS FOR THE LIVESTOCK SECTOR

Staff correspondent: Ensuring food safety there are many challenges to overcome. Supplying fish and livestock food products from farm to table goes through many steps. All our stakeholders should be aware of these activities.

Considering these aspects A three-day workshop on "Policy dialogue Workshop on Food Safety and AMR Surveillance for Food of Animal Origin” has been started in Dhaka. The event is  organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), World Bank and Department of Livestock Services. Where stakeholders participated in the discussion.

Today (November 23) was the 2nd day of the event. The objective of the session is to establish a dialogue among public and private stakeholders to validate the objectives and plan set on the Policy paper on Operationalization of DLS’s regulatory function and coordination mechanisms for food of animal origin. In addition, the session the session will aim at discussing best practices from other countries and identifying roles and responsibilities with respect to slaughterhouses and milk collection and processing centres as central elements of the milk and meat value chain.


Besides this a review of day one discussions and modalities for day two dialogue was conducted by Dr. Md. Ainul Haque – National Project Coordinator and Dr. Gabor Molnar, Project Officer, UNIDO.

During the event a policy Paper on "Food Safety Framework of Food of Animal Origin" was presented by Dr. Md. Mehedi Hossain, National Inspection Expert & Dr. S M. Rajiur Rahman National Livestock and Dairy Expert.

Keynote presentation on “The transformation of slaughterhouses and milk collection and processing centres in Ireland” by Dr. Michael Barry- Specialist in Food Regulatory Framework



Questions and answers roundtable discussion was held after lunch.
