We still have a HOPE…………MD, AXON GROUP
---It was not too long ago just few enthusiastic entrepreneurs discovered a great potentiality chased their dream in building an industry they thought might bring a new revolution in our agro sector. Having limited knowledge, no technology and hardly any resources their contentious effort overcoming extensive challenges the Poultry Industry was born. 20 years later when this dream turned into a massive industry involving over 5 million people with an investment over 10 Billion USD (approx.) meeting the most economical protein for the Nation but, unfortunately, now it is at the verge of collapse but Yet, no hope from the authorities.
When I was involved in this industry my initial impression was that this is simply a farm that we find in every villages in the country with an exception that it is bigger & more organized. This can’t be a profession that I would consider as my primary carrier in life over my high educational qualifications.
I was COMPLETELY WRONG in fact I think I am one of those lucky ones to be not only a part of this industry but extremely proud to call myself a farmer by heart. This is an industry that puts you in a position to face few of the Key challenges of Science, technology, management & knowledge thus building you up slowly as an all-rounder to become what only a person can ever dream of.
Today, we have some of the most innovative Global technology in the Poultry Sector. We have introduced vertical integration concept from Farm to table delivering diversified & value added+products. We produce over 4.5 Crore Eggs and 4000 Mt Meat per day with a per capital consumption about 100 Eggs & 7.5 Kg meat per person. We have learned, developed & improved our skills, management & knowledge producing international standard products & services with a substantial opportunity to export. We have placed our industry in the strong attention on the Global network who considered us to be one of the most innovative & fast-growing poultry Nation in Asia.
Considering all these facts when we feel is the right time to discuss further development instead & with quite disappointment we are expressing concerns and anxieties on our daily table of discussion like…
What happened to our industry? how did we reach come to this crisis ? Is there any hope at all? What would we do now? How we will feed our families? How would we pay off our loans & bills? These keeps going on & on….!
I believe that there is always a solution for every problem and the most effective is to laid down all the issues & work mutually to develop the best possible strategy that is easy to cope with. This industry is the responsibility of both the private & Government sectors. It’s an industry that can leads towards a solution to reduce unemployment, increase household income, develop industrialization, create foreign revenue, reduce poverty, provide nutritional & economical protein making a significant contribution to the National Economic growth. So, both the Government & the Industry must act joint to facilitate a strong policy that will not only help to overcome these crisis but also can act as a reference guide on such major key clangs in the future.
From my observations I feel the following initiatives are top priorities:
•OVERCOME TAX & CUSTOMS COMPLICATIONS
•REVIEW TAX STRUCTURE BASED ON ALL RELATED PRODUCTS INVOLVING FARM TO TABLE
•PROPER PLANNING FOR FARMS & RELATED PROJECTS
•ENCOURAGEMENT & PRIORITIES TO BE GIVEN TO THE LOCALS
•SPECIAL POLICIES TO BE INTRODUCED ON IMPORTED MEAT, EGGS & READY TO EAT PRODUCTS
•LOW & FLEXIBLE INTEREST RATE, ALL LEVEL FINANCING SHOULD BE INTRODUCED
•ENHANCE SPECIFIC POLICIES TOWARDS STRONG BIO-SECURITY AND FOOD SAFETY
DLS can or may be act on behalf of the Government while all the associations or a mother if any can act on behalf of the industry to reform a single PLATFORM making exclusive policies working mutually.
The industry is not acting alone nor just a single sector anymore. So, whatever the policies are implemented must be made to benefit all parties & stakeholders related to it. It is the industry by the people also for the people so the outcome is always strongly depended on how we give the efforts & how we deliver the outputs. Let’s just pray & hope that the better days will come that the light will shine once again to brighten our home, our hearts & our industry to honor the dreams of those few entrepreneurs & keep it ALIVE.
