RU Deputy Chief Veterinarian Rtn. Dr. Md. Hemayatul Islam Arif awarded PhD

agrilife24.com:Rtn. Dr. Md. Hemayatul Islam Arif awarded PhD from Institute of Biological Sciences, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. His research ‘Epidemiological Investigation of Brucellosis, Toxoplasmosis and Coxiellosis associated with reproductive disorders in small ruminants’.

Dr. Islam is a member of Rotary club of Rajshahi, RI District-3281, Bangladesh. He is the General Secretary of Bangladesh Livestock Society, Joint Editorial Chief of Bangladesh Livestock Journal, Secretary of Shujon Metropolitan, Rajshahi, Vice President of Bangladesh Biodiversity Conservation Federation (BBCF), Life & General members of many more society and institutions.

He is working as a Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer in the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Rajshahi. Dr. Islam is an exceptional researcher who contributes in the society for the development of human sector, the zoonotic diseases like Brucella, toxoplasma and Q fever coming from animal origin. He was a scientist who first report about Q fever in Small ruminants in Bangladesh.

Dr. Islam born in Rajshahi, his father Md. Sadequl Islam was a retired school teacher having spouse Kh. Mahbuba Hasnin, and Sons Mohammad Ahnaf Hasan and Mohammad Arshad Hasan. He obtained star marks (83%) in SSC from Govt. Laboratory High School, Rajshahi and HSC from Rajshahi College (73% marks).

He got Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Sylhet Govt. Veterinary College now it is Sylhet Agricultural University and MS in Obstetrics from the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Rajshahi (Stood First class first). Dr. Islam started his carrier in a Private company than joined in the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Rajshahi as a Veterinary Surgeon and two times promoted to reach present position as Deputy Chief Veterinarian.

He was awarded Birds conservation award, World veterinary Poultry Association Travel grant in 2016, Scholarship from Bangladesh Scholarship council funded by JICA. He visited India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Philippines for presenting his research papers. He authorized one book and published 25 research articles in National and International Journals.
