AGRILIFE24.COM:Dr. Shaikh Tanveer Hossain has been designated as “IFOAM Global Organic Ambassador” by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) Organics International (based in Bonn, Germany) in the 19th Organic World Congress and the General Assembly held in New Delhi, India on 13 November 2017.
In order to broaden its capacities to convey messages on and represent interests of organic agriculture at a truly global scale, IFOAM – Organics International started to work with Advocacy Ambassadors three years ago.
IFOAM Advocacy Ambassadors are individuals that are committed to IFOAM–Organics International’s goals and principles and are voluntarily works for the IFOAM Advocacy Program. IFOAM–Organics International giving honor and engaged the peoples as Ambassadors who excelled in representing the organic cause at high level events, who are widely recognized, possess a strong professional policy network and are persons of integrity and passionate, inspiring and caring as regards the principles of Organic Agriculture at the same time.
This time IFOAM has nominated seventeen prominent people worldwide to become IFOAM Advocacy Ambassadors and offered to wear IFOAM–Organics International’s badge and act as its ‘brand agent’ at events of global, regional and national importance.
It is mentionable that Dr. Tanveer is positioning as Vice-President of IFOAM-Asia since 2015 and awarded the first Grand Prize of “Organic Farming Innovation Award (OFIA)” in 2011 in South Korea. He is the first and only Bangladeshi who awarded the OFIA, positioning Vice-President of IFOAM Asia and designated now as “IFOAM Global Organic Ambassador”.
By profession, Dr. Tanveer is now working as Program Officer of Agriculture Department in the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), an Inter-Governmental Organization based in Tokyo, Japan. APO is consists of twenty member countries from Asia and Pacific including Bangladesh working with mission of contributing to the sustainable socioeconomic development of Asia and the Pacific through enhancing productivity.
