Agrilife24.com:Dr. Md. Kabir Ikramul Haque joined Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) on December 28, 2017 as Executive Chairman replacing her predecessor Dr. Bhagya Rani Banik. Earlier he served as the Member Director (Fisheries) and Director Project Implementation Unit (NATP Phase-II) in the same organization.
Dr. Md. Kabir Ikramul Haque was born in a respected Muslim family at Dhanmondi, Dhaka on January 01, 1961. He began his career as Scientific Officer (SO) at Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI), Mymensingh on February 28, 1987 and subsequently joined BARC as Principal Scientific Officer (Fisheries) on February 07, 2007. Dr. Haque obtained BSc. in Fisheries (Honours) from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh in 1984. Later on, he obtained her post graduate degree from the same University in Fisheries Biology and Limnology in 1985. He did her PhD in Hydro Biology (Fisheries) in 1995 from Kharkov State University, Ukraine.
Dr. Md. Kabir Ikramul Haque has 30 years practical experiences in the field of agricultural research, research management, project management and policy development. He has contributed in developing agriculture policy, Research Priorities in Bangladesh Agriculture (Agricultural Research Vision 2030 and Beyond). Dr. Kabir also contributed in developing some technologies including fish breeding & seed production, fish culture, GIFT in seasonal ponds, silver carp in seasonal ponds, improved hybrid catfish, pangasius in ponds, fish culture in pan and carp polyculture.
He visited the USA, Germany, China, Thailand, India and some other countries for participation in seminar/workshop on agricultural research. He has 35 scientific publications in different prestigious journals at home and abroad.-Press Release
