BAU Correspondent:The 23rd internship programme for students of the 60th batch of the Faculty of Veterinary Science at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has begun.

The internship has been arranged at 14 locations across the country to provide students with hands-on experience in animal protection and veterinary healthcare. A total of 171 students will participate in the programme this year. Some of them will also undergo internships in Japan, Malaysia, Thailand and Nepal. The internship programme began on Sunday.

Prof Dr Md Shafiqul Islam of the Department of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Veterinary Science said awareness of animal health and welfare is increasing in the country. Research is also being conducted on animal ethology and One Health. Internship is a golden opportunity for hands-on learning. Through it, students will gain practical experience in proper diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of animal diseases. They will also learn important skills such as leadership, teamwork and punctuality.

Internship coordinator Prof Dr Md Bahanur Rahman said Internship is a golden opportunity to learn about animal treatment and behaviour. Here, students will learn not only about the treatment of livestock but also about companion and wild animals. This experience will help them become skilled and well-rounded veterinarians.
