To mark this milestone, the organizations hosted an exclusive industry seminar titled “Targeting 600 Eggs in 120 Weeks from Nahar Lohmann Layers” on August 24, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Radisson Blu Water Garden, Dhaka.
The event was chaired by Mr. Md. Rakibur Rahman, Managing Director of Nahar Agro. Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), attended as the Guest of Honour and provided economic perspectives on this milestone. This shift toward extended production cycles represented a major boost for the economic prospects of the local poultry sector.
To address the operational aspects of this transition, the event featured valuable insights from a panel of Special Guests, including Mr. Md. Shahzaman Khan, Director General of the Department of Livestock Services (DLS), and Dr. A. K. M. Khasruzzaman, Managing Director of Inter Agro BD Ltd.
Mr. Mark Paul Charles Allen from Lohmann Breeders’ Global Technical Service led discussions on specialized flock management. He explained that by extending the laying period of commercial birds under expert guidelines, Bangladeshi farmers could substantially reduce flock replacement overheads, stabilize domestic egg supplies, and meet growing national nutritional demands.
The seminar also featured remarks from Mr. Tanjid Jawad Rahman, Director of Nahar Agro, who highlighted the company’s commitment to introducing advanced poultry genetics and sustainable farming practices in Bangladesh. Representing Lohmann Breeders, Dr. Manoranjan Sharma shared insights into the scientific advancements behind modern layer breeding programs and discussed how improved genetics can support higher egg production while maintaining bird health and performance throughout an extended laying cycle.
Mr. Asad Sultan of Lohmann Breeders also addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of technical support, farmer training, and best management practices to achieve the target of 600 eggs in 120 weeks. He noted that close collaboration between genetics providers, poultry companies, and farmers would be crucial to realizing this ambitious production goal.
