BAU Correspondent:180 million dollar project, with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is now in the government approval process to enhance education, research and technological capacity at the country's agricultural universities.

The five-year Strengthening Agricultural Tertiary Education Project (SATEP) aims to improve the quality of higher education in agriculture, strengthen climate-smart agricultural education and research, and enhance links between universities and the agricultural industry.

Under the project, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) is planned to be developed as a centre of excellence for agricultural research and a regional research and knowledge hub for South Asia. The project will also support the improvement of education, research and technological capacity at other agricultural universities across the country.

The BAU Public Relations and Publications Office confirmed the information on Thursday (September 3).

The project will seek to align agricultural education with the needs of industries and the job market while strengthening modern and climate-resilient agricultural research and development.

It will also focus on developing technology-driven agricultural universities, upgrading research infrastructure, modernising curricula and academic structures, expanding the use of information technology and providing professional training for teachers and researchers.
