BASAVA Holds First-Ever National Conference to Advance Pet Nutrition and Animal Well-being in Bangladesh

Staff Correspondent:The Bangladesh Small Animal Veterinary Association (BASAVA) successfully organized its first-ever national conference titled “Innovation in Pet Nutrition and Well-being” on 20–21 December 2025 at Hotel Amari, Dhaka. The landmark two-day event brought together around 150 veterinarians from across the country who are actively engaged in pet animal medicine, marking a significant step forward for small animal veterinary practice in Bangladesh.

The conference concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony and certificate distribution session held on Sunday, 21 December 2025. The ceremony was graced by Dr. Kabir Uddin Ahmed, Secretary General of the Veterinary Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (VAB), as the Chief Guest. Distinguished guests including Dr. Gopal Chandra Biswash, Registrar of the Bangladesh Veterinary Council; Mr. Mohammad Habibur Rahman, CEO of M/S 3S Impex Bangladesh; and Mr. Nitipong Laohavisit from Thailand were also present.

Certificates were awarded to participating veterinarians in recognition of their engagement and contribution to the two-day national conference. In the afternoon, a thought-provoking panel discussion was held, moderated by Prof. Dr. KHM Nazmul Hossain Nazir, General Secretary of BASAVA, focusing on the future development of small animal veterinary practice in Bangladesh.

The event formally concluded with a closing address by Dr. Sagir Uddin Ahmed, Acting President of BASAVA, who emphasized the association’s commitment to strengthening professional collaboration and working for the welfare of pets and the benefit of pet lovers across the country.

The program was attended by Dr. H. M. Nazmul Haq, Treasurer of BASAVA; and other members of the BASAVA Executive Committee, reflecting strong organizational unity and commitment to the development of pet animal healthcare in the country.

This historic initiative by BASAVA is expected to play a vital role in strengthening pet animal healthcare and promoting animal welfare across the country.
