By AgriLife Correspondent: The poultry industry in Bangladesh has reached remarkable milestones, significantly driven by the scientific organization, the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA) - Bangladesh Branch. Among the dedicated individuals contributing to this journey is Dr. M. A. Saleque, who served as the General Secretary for two consecutive terms from 2006-2007 and 2008-2010.
In anticipation of the upcoming Poultry Fair, Dr. M. A. Saleque shared insights into the organization's early days with this correspondent. Extending his best wishes for the 13th International Poultry Show and Seminar, organized by WPSA-Bangladesh Branch, he highlighted the significance of the technical seminars held alongside the fair in driving the industry's progress.
“We realized early on that to ensure the sustainability of the poultry industry, we needed to develop technical expertise and adopt technologies suitable for our country. Previously, we had to attend poultry fairs in countries like Thailand and various parts of Europe to gain such knowledge, which was not feasible for everyone due to high costs,” said Dr. Saleque.
He further emphasized, “This led us to conceptualize hosting international-standard technical seminars within Bangladesh. Since then, these seminars have played a crucial role in bringing advanced knowledge to our local industry.”
Reflecting on the positive impact, Dr. Saleque noted that the technical topics regularly presented at the poultry fairs have significantly benefited the country's poultry sector. Continuing this tradition, the upcoming International Technical Seminar will be held on February 18-19 at Radisson Blu in Dhaka. The event will see active participation from scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs, and nutritionists, aiming to address current challenges in the industry.
Notably, under the theme “Sustainable Poultry for Emerging Bangladesh,” the 13th International Poultry Show will be held from February 20-22 at the International Trade Fair Grounds in Purbachal. The grand event is jointly organized by WPSA-Bangladesh Branch and the Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC), promising an enriching experience for all stakeholders involved.
