Agrilife24.com:Robi Axiata PLC and WaterAid Bangladesh have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance water and environmental sustainability in Bangladesh. The agreement underscores a shared commitment to ensuring access to safe drinking water, particularly at major railway stations across the country.

The signing ceremony was held recently at Robi’s corporate office in Dhaka. The event was attended by WaterAid Bangladesh Country Director Hasin Jahan and Director of Technical Services Md. Tahmidul Islam. Representing Robi Axiata PLC were Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer Shahed Alam and Public Affairs and Sustainability Director Sharif Shah Jamal Raz, along with senior officials from both organizations.

Under this partnership, Robi and WaterAid will collaborate to develop and deploy innovative water purification technologies and establish robust systems for maintenance, management, and real-time monitoring of safe water facilities. The initiative aims to make clean drinking water accessible to thousands of travelers and communities relying on railway stations every day.

This MoU builds on the success of the “Safe Water, Healthy Life” project, jointly implemented by Robi, WaterAid Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Railway. Through this project, ten water purification plants have already been installed at key railway stations nationwide, providing safe drinking water to approximately 452,000 people annually. The new agreement will further expand these efforts, ensuring sustainable solutions for water safety and hygiene.

In addition to infrastructure development, the collaboration will include research, awareness campaigns, and policy dialogues to promote Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) practices across Bangladesh.
