Staff correspondent: A high-profile seminar titled “Feed Cost Modulation and Nutrient Optimization” was held on Saturday, 22 November 2025, at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel (Utsab Hall), Dhaka. Organized jointly by AVON Animal Health and Varsha Multitech, The event brought together poultry industry leaders, nutrition experts, and farm professionals at a time when rising feed prices continue to challenge poultry producers across Bangladesh.
The seminar was inaugurated with a welcome address by A.K.M. Sayeed Sarwar, President & CEO, who emphasized the urgent need to control production costs without compromising feed quality. He highlighted the pressure farmers face as feed remains the single largest expense in poultry farming.

International consultant Dr. N. C. Manju delivered a key presentation on “Feed Cost Modulation from a Nutritionist Perspective”, focusing on strategies such as precision formulation, alternative raw materials, and nutrient optimization. He stressed that smarter nutrition, rather than simply cheaper ingredients, is the most sustainable way to reduce feed costs.
Dr. Somashekar L, Assistant General Manager (Technical), highlighted the Importance of Poultry Liver Health, noting that a healthy liver enhances feed efficiency, nutrient absorption, and overall flock performance ultimately reducing the total cost per kilogram of live weight.

A detailed session on Bio-B-Complete, a choline chloride replacer, was presented by Mr. Saravana Kumar M, Assistant General Manager. He explained how innovative additives can significantly reduce formulation costs while improving bird health and performance.

Addressing another key area of loss in poultry operations, Dr. Nandeppa B, General Manager (Technical), discussed Poultry Gut Health and introduced solutions like V-CID & Humicare for achieving an optimal gut environment. He emphasized that healthy gut integrity reduces feed wastage, boosts growth, and lowers the overall feed conversion ratio (FCR).

The seminar concluded with a lively panel interaction, a raffle draw, and closing remarks by Md. Mahabub Hassan (Executive Vice President). He thanked all participants for their commitment to innovation and cost-effective poultry production. Also present was Md. Ziaur Rahman (Head of Sales), who acknowledged the growing demand for sustainable feed solutions in Bangladesh.

The event also spotlighted the contributions of Varsha Group, established in 1995 in Bangalore, India. Known for its innovative and affordable animal health products, Varsha currently exports to nearly 20 countries, including Nepal, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Egypt, UAE, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, Taiwan, and several African nations.

At a time when feed prices are continuously rising and farmers spend a major portion of their investment on feed alone, this seminar provided timely guidance and practical tools. Experts agreed that smarter nutrition strategies, modern additives, and a strong focus on liver and gut health can significantly reduce feed costs offering real relief and long-term benefits to poultry farmers across the country.
