The initiative was organized under the sponsorship of the UQ Global Connection Event by the University of Queensland, with technical support from the Rajshahi University Animal Welfare Association. The campaign aimed to enhance animal health, prevent disease outbreaks, and support rural farmers in the region.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences under the University of Rajshahi, with the presence of leading academics, government livestock officials, and law enforcement representatives. The program was formally inaugurated by Professor Dr. Mohammad Main Uddin, who highlighted the importance of extending academic knowledge to practical community service for improving farmers’ livelihoods and animal welfare.

The event was enriched by the distinguished special guests including Professor Dr. Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, Professor Dr. Jalal Uddin Sarder, Dr. Shyla Sharmin from the Department of Livestock Services Bangladesh, Dr. Hemayetul Islam, and Mr. Golam Kabir. Each guest delivered remarks stressing the importance of preventive vaccination, the One Health approach, and collaborative efforts between universities, government institutions, and local authorities.

The campaign was chaired by Dr. Jashim Uddin, Associate Professor of VAS at RU, who emphasized the significance of international collaboration in strengthening local animal healthcare initiatives. The program was smoothly conducted and anchored by Mst. Ishrat Zerin Moni, ensuring a well-organized and engaging event.

During the campaign, a dedicated team of veterinary students, faculty members, and professional veterinarians provided free vaccinations against major diseases such as Foot and Mouth Disease and Peste des Petits Ruminants. In addition, services like deworming, general health check-ups, and medicine distribution were offered to cattle, goats, and community dogs brought by farmers and pet owners from Motihar, Godagari, and surrounding areas.

Organizers extended heartfelt gratitude to the University of Queensland for its support through the UQ Global Connection Event, which played a crucial role in making the campaign successful and strengthening international collaboration in veterinary sciences. With hundreds of animals treated in a single day, the initiative is expected to become an annual flagship program, reinforcing the University of Rajshahi as a leader in animal health, welfare, and community outreach.
