BAU Correspondent: An intensive three-day long training program, Food Systems Youth Leadership Training designed to equip young leaders with leadership skills and in-depth knowledge in Food systems was inaugurated at Daffodil International University (DIU) on Sunday (26th January).
The training programme runs from January 26th to 28th is organized by Hopes Of Humanity Centre and supported by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and the SUN Youth Network Bangladesh.
The ceremony was graced by Professor Dr. Md. Bellal Hossain, Dean (In-Charge) of the Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering at DIU and Moniruzzaman Bipul, Portfolio Lead at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) as the Chief Guests. As well as the Special Guests were Professor Dr. Md. Sarowar Hossain, Associate Dean & Associate Professor, Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering, Dr. Nizam Uddin, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering, Professor Dr. M A Rahim, Professor & Head, Department of Agricultural Science, Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Associate Professor, Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering, Ms. Fouzia Akter, Assistant Professor, Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering and Mr. Md. Harun-Ar Rashid, Assistant Professor, Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering at DIU. Again was Mehedi Islam Bappy, Project Coordinator at GAIN and SUN Youth Network Bangladesh as special guest.
The 3 day long workshop and training will be conducted by previous graduates from SUN Youth Network Bangladesh, SM Sazzad Ul Islam, Founder & Managing Director, Hopes of Humanity Centre,
Faculty of Agriculture, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, Soyed Mehedi Hassain Nayeem, Student, Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering, DIU and Md Rashid Munasib Islam, Head of Corporate Affairs, Dhaka University Entrepreneurship Development Club along with Mr. Md. Juwel Rana, Assistant Professor, Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering, DIU (recent ISO 22000 Food Safety Training), Ms. Syeeda Shiraj-Um-Monira, Lecturer (Senior Scale), Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering, DIU (recent ISO 22000 Food Safety Training) as additional facilitators.
The training aims to empower young leaders with the knowledge and skills to address critical challenges within the food systems. Participants will engage in interactive sessions, workshops, and discussions, focusing on key areas such as sustainable food production and consumption, food security and nutrition, climate change and its impact on food systems, innovation and technology in food systems and advocacy and policy change. This training program is a significant step towards building a more resilient and sustainable food system in Bangladesh. By equipping young leaders with the necessary tools and knowledge, we can empower them to drive positive change and ensure a healthier future for all.
