Mohammad Riaz, BAU:Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) and Thailand's Mahasarakham University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), aimed at enhancing cooperation in education, research and student exchange programmes.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Veterinary Science at BAU on Thursday.
Among those present were Professor Dr Md Siddiqur Rahman of the Department of Medicine, Professor Dr Tahsin Farzana of the Department of Parasitology, Professor Dr K.H.M. Nazmul Hussain Nazir of the Department of Microbiology and Hygiene, Professor Dr A.K.M. Ahsan Kabir of the Department of Animal Science, and Professor Dr Manakant Intrakamhaeng from the Faculty of Veterinary Science at Mahasarakham University.
Speaking at the programme, Professor Dr Manakant Intrakamhaeng said BAU and Mahasarakham University have maintained a long-standing relationship in education and research. As part of this collaboration, Mahasarakham University accepted internship students from BAU last year. We hope this cooperative relationship will continue and expand in the coming years.
He added that Mahasarakham University has already signed an MoU with BAU's Faculty of Animal Husbandry. As a result, there is currently no scope for signing another institution-wide agreement with BAU. However the university remains interested in receiving students from BAU's Faculty of Veterinary Science through the existing framework established with the Faculty of Animal Husbandry. MSU has already begun its journey of cooperation with BAU. I firmly believe this relationship will become stronger in the future and continue for many years.
Professor Dr Md Siddiqur Rahman said the agreement would facilitate academic collaboration, joint research and student exchange activities. Several BAU students participated in internship programmes at Mahasarakham University last year and received excellent support there. Encouraged by that positive experience, we have moved forward with this agreement. We are optimistic that educational and research collaboration between the two universities will become even stronger in the future.
