BAU welcomes 65th DVM batch with freshman reception

Mohammad Riaz, BAU:Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) organised a freshman reception for newly admitted students of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) programme for the 2025–26 academic session.

The programme was held on Monday (6 July) evening at the gallery of the Department of Microbiology under the Faculty of Veterinary Science.

According to faculty sources, a total of 79 students have been admitted to the DVM programme this academic session, including 50 Bangladeshi and 29 international students. In addition, 14 students have renewed their enrolment.

The reception was attended by Professor Dr Md Bahanur Rahman, Convener of the Dean's Council and Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science.

Among others present were Professor Dr Abdul Awal, Head of the Department of Anatomy and Histology; Professor Dr Muhammad Tofazzal Hossain, Head of the Department of Microbiology and Hygiene; Professor Dr Kamrul Islam, Head of the Department of Physiology; Professor Dr Fatema Akter, Head of the Department of Pharmacology; Professor Dr Babul Chandra Roy, Head of the Department of Parasitology; Professor Dr Md Makbul Hossain, Head of the Department of Pathology; Associate Professor Dr Mosammat Sonia Parvin, Acting Head of the Department of Medicine; Professor Dr Md Rafiqul Alam, Head of the Department of Surgery and Obstetrics, along with other faculty members.

The newly enrolled students of the 65th DVM batch and their guardians also attended the event.

Addressing the programme, Professor Dr Md Bahanur Rahman congratulated the freshmen on securing admission to BAU and encouraged them to make the most of their academic journey.

He said  Bangladesh Agricultural University is your campus and you are an integral part of it. You must work hard, develop yourselves into competent professionals, and make your families proud through your achievements.
