Agrilife24.com:A day-long Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop on “Good Aquaculture Practices and Efficient Feed Management” was held today at the BPICC Conference Room in Rupayan Shopping Square, Dhaka.
Jointly organized by the Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC) and the U.S. Grains & BioProduct Council (USGBC), the event aimed to equip aquaculture professionals and commercial advisors with modern skills to enhance productivity, sustainability, and efficiency in the aquaculture sector.
The workshop commenced with registration at 8:30 AM, followed by an inauguration ceremony featuring opening remarks from Ms. Erin Covert, Agricultural Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, and Mr. Moshiur Rahman, Convener of BPICC.
Senior executives and professionals from Bangladesh’s feed industry participated in the training. Through the sessions, participants gained practical and applied knowledge on modern and safe fish farming techniques, feed production technologies, and effective marketing strategies.
The technical sessions were divided into specialized segments led by industry experts. Mr. Mohammad Abdul Baten Bhuyain, PhD, a Doctoral Fellow from WorldFish Bangladesh, conducted the morning sessions focusing on foundational aquaculture management. His presentations covered modern Good Aquaculture Practices (G.A.P.), including pond preparation and stocking management, water quality monitoring and corrective measures, as well as critical protocols for fish health management, disease recognition, and farm biosecurity.
Following a lunch and prayer break, the afternoon sessions shifted focus toward commercial advisory and instructional skills. Mr. Aung Tun Aye, an aquaculture and aquatic animal nutrition consultant and founder of Agro Solution, led an extensive session on feed and nutrition fundamentals tailored to the needs of the modern feed industry.
The final instructional segment focused on training delivery techniques and farmer engagement. The session was facilitated by Mr. Md. Zahidul Islam, Chief Operating Officer of Bangla-UK Agro Products Ltd., who shared practical approaches for effectively transferring knowledge and supporting producers at the field level.
The event concluded at 5:00 PM with a joint closing ceremony, certificate distribution, and a group photography session hosted by the BPICC and USGBC teams.
Among others, the ceremony was attended by Mr. Md. Sirajul Hoque, Senior Vice President of WPSA-BB; Mr. Mohammad Fayzur Rahman, General Secretary of WPSA-BB; Mr. A. T. M. Mostafa Kamal, Secretary of BPICC; and Mr. Mahe Alam Sorwar, Consultant for Bangladesh at the U.S. Grains & BioProduct Council.
