Abul Bashar Meraz: Miraz:The 29th Annual Scientific Conference of the Bangladesh Society for Veterinary Education (BSVER) will begin next Saturday (February 25) at Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. The theme of this conference is 'Sustainable improvement of animal health and production in the context of the fourth industrial revolution'. 500 scientists, researchers, field level veterinarians and entrepreneurs are participating in the two-day international conference. Among them are two scientists from the United States and South Korea. Besides, this is the first time that undergraduate students have the opportunity to participate in this conference.
In a written speech at a press conference General Secretary of BSVER and the professor of microbiology and hygiene department Dr Md. Ariful Islam informed this. The press conference was held on Friday (February 24) at around 10 amat the conference room of the veterinary faculty.
He further said that the scientific conference has one symposium session, one plenary session and eight open paper sessions. A total of 70 oral presentations and 84 poster papers will be presented, including one annual lecture, one keynote and two plenary lectures. In addition to this, an event for the students will be conducted by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Bangladesh Emergency Center for Transboundary Animal Disease Country Team Leader Dr. Eric Bram.
Dr. Arif also said that Professor of Pathology Department Dr Md. Rafiqul Islam will present the keynote in the scientific conference. This year, the retired teacher of the Department of Pathology and the founder of Sylhet Agricultural University, Professor Dr. Md Iqbal Hossain has been nominated for the Annual Lecture Award. Besides, the retired professor of surgery and obstetrics department and former vice-chancellor professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hussain will be conferred with the lifetime award for outstanding contribution and leadership in veterinary research and education. Apart from this, three best presenters in both oral and poster categories will be awarded among the research papers presented at the conference.
President of BSVER and Professor of Department of Surgery and Obstetrics Dr. Farida Yasmin Bari presided over the press conference and was also present in the press conference of BSVER 29th Scientific Conference Organizing Committee President and Professor of Pathology Department. Dr. Md. Mokbul Hossain, General secretary, professor of surgery and obstetrics department Dr Nasreen Sultana Juena and cultural subcommittee president and professor of microbiology and hygiene department Dr Minara Khatun.
At this time Dr. Nashreen Sultana Juena said, keeping in mind the vision of creating a smart Bangladesh, the theme has been set this year to emphasize the sustainable development of the livestock sector. The fourth industrial revolution will bring many opportunities for innovation and improvement in the livestock industry. The use of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence,internet of things and robotics will lead to significant improvements in animal health, behavior and efficiency. The use of technologies associated with the Fourth Industrial Revolution will enable more efficient and sustainable production of animal products.
Dr Farida Yasmin Bari addressed that the conference of BSVER is an annual scientific gathering. Nanotechnology, vaccines, anti-microbial resistance, food security, herbal productivity issues will be more important in this conference. With the help of this modern technology, marginal farmers can enjoy the services at low cost.
