Agrilife24.com: For the very first time, East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation Bangladesh established a learning farm dedicated only to empowering smallholder farmers of Bangladesh in climate-resilient agriculture for vegetable production at Faridpur.
The learning farm hosted the first batch of ToT from 05 to 07 February 2024 for the 25 extension officers of the Department of Agricultural Extension from the coastal area on climate-smart agriculture with the support of the Smart Farming Healthy Food project which is financially supported by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. This three-day field-based training course is facilitated by Peter Kromann from Wageningen University & Research.
The program included online training for agricultural officers and a three-day theory The training covered topics such as IPM, ICM, Fertilizer Management, Pest and Disease Management, Residual Toxicity, Pesticide Application, Pesticide toxicity, Pesticide Type, and Mode of Agriculture as part of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). 100 more agriculture officials will be brought under this training. In the closing ceremony The Additional Director of DAE (Field Service Wing) Mr. Saiful Alam, country manager of East-West Seed Bangladesh Private Ltd. Mr. Mostafa Kamal, Knowledge Transfer Manager of East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Mr. Atikur Rahman were present among us.
The program was closed with a wrap-up of our learning and observations from the past three days followed by a very inspiring speech from the guest and participants.
