Call on 5th BLS Livestock award, Seminar and Livestock-Poultry Fair-2022

Contribution of the sector is immense in terms of meeting up the protein demand and socio-economic development.
Veterinarian and Animal scientists and researchers came up with the observation while addressing the '5th Livestock Award, Seminar and Animal Resource Fair- 2022' at Rajshahi University (RU) in Rajshahi city on Saturday 10 December.
Veterinary and Animal Science Faculty at RU and Bangladesh Livestock Society (BLS) jointly organized the daylong programme at RU Senate Building discussing and devising ways and means on how to promote the livestock sector collectively.
Vice-chancellor Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar addressed the ceremony as chief guest, while Pro-vice-chancellors Prof Sultan-Ul-Islam and Prof Humayun Kabir spoke as special guests with Dean of the faculty and BLS President Prof Jalal Uddin Sarder in the chair. BLS General Secretary Dr. Md. Hemayetul Islam Arif welcomed the participants.
Dr Nathu Ram Sarker, Executive Director of Krishi Gobeshona Foundation, gave an illustration on the country's livestock sector side by side with promoting it for the greater interest of sound public health during his keynote presentation. He presented the paper styled "Contribution of animal protein to build a middle-income country" stating that the livestock sector is important from the perspectives of crop cultivation, food besides nutritional security, poverty reduction, nutrition and employment generation.
Milk, meat and eggs are the important products of livestock and trends in the production of these three products show an increase for the last couple of decades.In his remarks, Professor Golam Sabbir said boosting production of both food grains and animal resources has become crucial to build a healthy nation through thwarting all the malnutrition-related diseases.
He called for reaching the livestock services of production, primary treatment, deworming, vaccination and farm management to the grassroots growers for boosting the animal resources, particularly cattle, goat and poultry farming. Stressing the need for uplifting the livestock sector for food security, self-employment and poverty reduction he said due importance on adopting modern technology, promotion of high yielding varieties and farmers training to overcome the crisis.
BLS secretary Dr. Islam stated that Bangladesh Livestock Society organized the 5th Livestock Seminar and Livestock Poultry Fair with the slogan "Everyone will come under the banner of BLS, no one will be unemployed." It is necessary to create awareness and linkages between all types of stakeholders from producers to consumers. The aim of the present BLS is therefore to provide adequate animal protein that is meat to feed the next generation and to provide technology-based production and training to all in this sector now is the need of the hour.
On the occasion, 14 persons and institutions were given awards for their laudable contribution to their respective fields related to livestock. The memorial was handed over to the honored individuals and organizations. In this year's Most Valuable Person of the Year category, Livestock Industry (Institution) Kazi Farms Limited, Livestock Industry (Individual), Md. Aminul Islam, professor of livestock research. Subas Chandra Das, Professor of Livestock Education. M. Rashed Hasnat, Directorate of Livestock Dr. Md. Golam Mostafa, Aeon Bio Science Limited in the Livestock Industry in the Highest Service Provider category, Livestock Field Level - Entrepreneur Adarsh Praniseba Limited, Field Level Volunteer Anjana Rani, Biodiversity and Wildlife Conservation Md. Saiful Islam, Farmer of the Year Livestock in Promising category Suraiya Farahana Reshma, Poultry Industry. Waheduzzaman Sikul, Soukhin Pakhi Art. Awards were presented to Mofizur Rahman and Catalyst Media Person in Electronics Media to Faizul Siddiqui, Agronomist of Channel Twenty-Four and Poultry Farm Bichitra to Print Media, Kamal Ahmed.
In the 3rd phase of the program, the annual general meeting, closing ceremony of the 5th Livestock Fair and cultural programs were held. The 3rd phase was attended as the chief guest, the president of the department of biochemistry and molecular biology, Prof. Dr. Tanjima Yasmin. Professor Md. Bangladesh Agricultural University as a special guest. Omar Farooq, Managing Director of RRP Agro Farms. Mansurul Alam, Vice Chairman of Aeon Group of Industries Major (Retd.) ABA Mesbah Ud-Daula, Registrar of Bangladesh Veterinary Council Dr. Gopal Chandra Biswas, Senior Director of Village Development. Mahbub Alam, General Manager of Kazi Farms Ltd. Sabbir Ahmed and others.
In the showcasing Livestock 17 stakeholder exhibited where ACI Animal health stall was first, Eon Group of Industries & Renata was second and RRP Agro Industries, Rafique Medicine & Case bird association stall stood third position. Renata & ACI limited was the gold sponsored and RRP agro Industries was the silver sponsored of the Event.
