Rtn. Dr. Md. Hemayatul Islam Arif: Rotary International started in 1905, seven decades later Rotary started in North Bengal i.e. Rajshahi in 1977 and almost half a century later Rotary Club of Rajshahi Central was born. Organizing the debut of this young club is a big challenge. I have a dream of debuting as the president of this club. Discuss this matter with our club members. As a new club it is very difficult to collect members, collect regular annual dues and pay district and international dues.
In this situation, in the 2nd meeting of the beginning of the Rota year-2023-24 in the club, we organized a club Assemble. Rotary Club of Jessore East Past President Md. Aminul Islam Shahin and 3 persons and Rotary Club of Dhaka City Chartered President Rotarian Kamruzzaman Khan Tipo gave consent as assemble speakers. After that meeting, I sat with Shaheen Bhai and decided who would be the guest for the club's installation event. After that, regular communication, participation and cooperation of all members of the club encouraged me more. Our club Director (TRF) Rtn. Alhaj Md. Rafiqul Islam Ripon was event chair and Rtn. Professor Dr. Md. Jalal Uddin Sardar was as Program Chair, Club Chartered President Rtn. Hasibul Hasan Nannoo as Finance Committee Chair, Rtn. Atiqur Rahman as Souvenir Committee Chair and club Treasurer Rotarian Rezaur Rahman as Registration Community Chair and with the overall support from Rotarian Md. Mizanur Rahman, Rotarian Chowdhury Mukhlesur Rahman Sumon selected to conveyed their role.
After 1 month of tireless hard work, I completed the preparations for the debut by meeting at various times. Rotary District 3281 Governor Ashrafuzzaman Nannu, RID-3281 Past District Governor Barrister Mutasimbillah Farooqui, RID-3282 Past District Governor Abu Fayez Khan Chowdhury, RID-3291 India Past District Governor Jhulan Bose, Former Secretary Kalyan Kumar Bose and District Governor Nominees for 2025-26 Dr. Ramendu Homchowdhury had their consent of guest panel. As a result, in the history of Rotary, the Rotary in Rajshahi Nothern part of Bangladesh with several Rotary Districts within the country and outside the country definitely organized an international event.
Apart from this, the city of Rajshahi considered into a rotary city with the arrival of members of 3 Indian clubs, Pabna Club, Rangpur Club, Narayanganj Club, Gazipur Club, members of all clubs of Rajshahi and members from 20 clubs of Dhaka. Rotarian PP Aminul Islam Shaheen, RC Jessohar East, Rotary Club of Uttara Past President Dr. M. AH Jahidul Islam Romel, Chartered President of Rotary Club of Dhaka City Md. Kamruzzaman Khan Tipo, Past President of Rotary Club of Dhaka Rotarian RI Rawly were hosted in the occasion. Beside this RC Rajshahi central thanked to Past President of Rotary Club of Metropolitan Khulna Rtn. Syed Abu Sayed and my friend Dr. Rakibuzzaman Chowdhury Saikot, club chartered president Hasibul Hasan Nannoo, Alhaj Rtn. Rafiqul Islam Ripon, Rotarian Md. Mohsin Ali, Rotarian Md. Mizanur Rahman, Rotarian Chowdhury Mukhlesur Rahman, Dr. Opsonin Pharma, Sinil Pharma. Dr. Tapas Kumar Ghosh and BRAC AI Enterprise. Md. Matiur Rahman for their support to successfully ended the event. Newly induction of Rotarian Eng. Shariful Haque and Rtn. Dr. Golam Mawla from the Rotary national and international guest of DG, PDG and DGN.
As a result of this beautiful arrangement, it will be considered as a milestone in the progress of Rotary in Nothern part of Bangladesh specially the mango, green, education and silk city of Rajshahi region. In this continuation, we hope that the Rotary Club of Rajshahi Central will usher in a new era and the arrival of a new sun in Rotary North Bengal and Rajshahi region.
