Mohammad Riaz, BAU:Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has launched an online platform named "Meat Bros" to provide students with safe, fresh and affordable fish and meat products.

The platform introduced by the Faculty of Animal Husbandry. It currently offers around 35 varieties of fish and meat products. Students can order products online in packages priced between Tk 20 and Tk 100, making quality animal protein more affordable and accessible.

The initiative was led by faculty members and students in the faculty of animal husbandry at BAU.

The platform currently operates three sales outlets on the BAU campus and records monthly sales of more than Tk 1 lakh. Around 70 percent of its customers are female, while the remaining 30 percent are male.

Mohammad Masum, a co-founder of the initiative, said the platform was established to deliver fresh fish and meat products to students at affordable prices. Marine fish are collected directly from Chattogram and Cox's Bazar, while bagda and golda shrimp are sourced from Khulna and Satkhira. Beef and freshwater fish are procured from local markets in Mymensingh.

He said The entrepreneurs themselves supervise the entire process, from sourcing and quality inspection to packaging. Products with even minor quality defects are not offered for sale.

Referring to customer demand, Md Masum said the platform initially introduced small packages priced between Tk 20 and Tk 100 to meet students' needs. Later, half-kilogram and one-kilogram packages were added to serve families as well.

He said the delivery charge is Tk 30 from the BAU campus to Kewatkhali and Tk 60 for other areas of Mymensingh Sadar. Orders worth more than Tk 500 are delivered free of charge.
