Govt to take effective steps to develop native livestock-Fisheries & Livestock State Minister

Agrilife24.com:The government is actively implementing effective measures to develop native livestock breeds and strengthen farm management across the country, Fisheries and Livestock State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku said today.

The state minister made the remarks during his visit to the Central Cattle Breeding and Dairy Farm in Savar. 

​During the inspection, The State Minister highlighted that the farm’s reliance on its own cultivated grass for animal feed is a positive milestone. He emphasized the importance of improving farm management to boost productivity and efficiency to achieve desired outcomes.

​The minister inspected various key units of the facility, including the calf section, dairy farm, Pabna Cattle Unit, Mirkadim Unit, Holstein-Friesian Unit, Artificial Insemination (AI) Laboratory, Breeding Bull Unit, and the 100% American Friesian Bull.

​He evaluated the development of indigenous breeds, fodder production, farm management, and overall infrastructure, providing necessary directives to the officials concerned.

​"Data on paper does not always fully reflect the reality on the ground," State Minister remarked, adding that field-level inspections provide an accurate picture, allowing the ministry to identify existing problems and take effective measures to solve them.

​Looking forward, the State minister said, "We do not want to dwell on past setbacks; our focus is entirely on progress. To achieve that, we are taking necessary actions based on real-world conditions through regular field visits."

​Director General of the Department of Livestock Services Md Shahjaman Khan, Director of the Central Cattle Breeding and Dairy Farm Md Shahidul Islam, and other senior officials of the farm were present during the inspection.
