BAU VC Meets University of Lorraine Representatives to Strengthen Research Collaboration

Mohammad Riaz, BAU:Representatives of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) and France's University of Lorraine held a meeting on Sunday to discuss expanding academic and research collaboration between the two institutions. The meeting took place at the office of the BAU Vice-Chancellor.

BAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr A.K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan attended the discussion along with Associate Professor Dr Thomas Lecocq of the University of Lorraine, animal research engineer Yannick Ledore, PhD researcher Katerina Samiotaki, and Professor Dr Md Shahjahan of the Department of Fisheries Management at BAU.

University sources said the French research team is currently conducting research activities at the Fish Ecophysiology Laboratory of Professor Dr Md Shahjahan as part of an ongoing joint research project on wild zebrafish. The researchers arrived at BAU on June 11 and are scheduled to remain at the university until June 17. The team had previously visited BAU in 2022 under the same collaborative research project.

BAU, VC Professor Dr A.K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan said such collaborations would create new opportunities for knowledge and technology exchange between the institutions. It will open new avenues for sharing knowledge and technology between the two universities and further enrich international-standard research activities.
