Protest Rally held at Chattogram demanding "Fossil Fuels Are a Threat to Our Future"

Agrilife24.com: Today (10 April), a human chain protest led by ISDE Bangladesh, CLEAN, and BWGED took place in Chattogram, calling for an end to fossil fuel investments and a transition to clean energy. The event was held in remembrance of the Bashkhali movement, where six protesters lost their lives opposing a coal-based power plant SS Power Plant.

Protesters carried banners with the message "Fossil Fuels Are a Threat to Our Future", highlighting the severe environmental consequences of coal and LNG projects.

Speakers stressed that fossil fuels are financially draining and environmentally disastrous. Experts pointed out that Bangladesh has the potential to harness solar and wind energy, which would provide cleaner and more affordable electricity in the long term.

"The lessons of Bashkhali should not be ignored," stated S M Nazer Hossain, Vice President, CAB and Executive Director ISDE Bangladesh. "We must reject fossil fuel dependency and embrace renewable energy."

The protest ended with a strong commitment from participants to continue advocating for a sustainable energy future.
