March for Safe and Healthy Air

WePlanet Bangladesh, along with its allies and partner organizations, organized a march and awareness campaign in Dhaka to highlight the dangers of air pollution.

Focus desk: Under the banner “We Demand Clean Air, Our Health, Our Right!” a group of passionate citizens and youth gathered beside the Agargaon Metro Station for a march and a display of placards to spread the message. The event held on May 22, 2025, aimed to educate people from all walks of life—including young people—about air pollution and encourage everyone to act.

Md. Arif Hossain, the representative of WePlanet Bangladesh and Regional Head of Asia for WePlanet International shared, “Air pollution is a silent killer affecting our health, productivity, and everyday lives. We can’t solve this problem unless we change our habits alongside government efforts.”

He added, “Making Dhaka a liveable city requires well-planned, science-based long-term solutions — and those plans need to be put into action effectively. It’s also time to update Bangladesh Environment Conservation Act-1995.”

Representatives from the participating organizations highlighted that clean air is essential not only for our health but also for improving productivity and economic growth. They called for everyone’s involvement and urged policymakers to modernize environmental policies and enforce pollution control laws strictly.

Organizers of the rally and awareness campaign: WePlanet Bangladesh, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Photographic Society, Light to Life, Seekto Bangladesh, Youth Action for Social Development, and Farming Future Bangladesh.
