"Sustainable Growth of Poultry Industry in Bangladesh and Roadmap for 2050" was held in Dhaka

Staff correspondent: Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC) organized a policy planning workshop titled "Sustainable Growth of Poultry Industry in Bangladesh and Roadmap for 2050", today (5 December) at the Ballroom of Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka. The event was supported by Bangladesh Trade Facilitation Project (BTF).

Mr. A.T.M Mostofa Kamal Additional Secretary, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Govt. of Bangladesh was present as the chief guest. Dr. Shakila Faruque, Director General Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute, Dr. Md. Bayzer Rahman, Director (Admin.), Department of Livestock Services and Ms. Sarah Gilleski, Agricultural Attaché, US Embassy, Dhaka were attending as Special Guests.

A Brief Overview of the Poultry Industry in Bangladesh & Objectives of the Workshop was presented by Shamsul Arefin Khaled, President, Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC).

Closing remarks of the first session was made by Mr. Moshiur Rahman, President, WPSA-Bangladesh Branch.

Mr. Michael J Parr, Project Director, Bangladesh Trade Facilitation Project (BTF), Mr. Fuad M Khalid Hossen, Deputy Chief of Party, BTF attended the event and gave their speeches.

The second session of the program was very important. And this session was moderated by Dr. Md. Mahmudul Hasan Sikder, Professor, Dept. of Pharmacology, Faculty of Veterinary Science, BAU.

The participants believe that such workshops will play an important role to build a sustainable poultry industry in Bangladesh. The Stakeholders expressed the opinion that organizing such events regularly will help the country's poultry industry to move forward.

Almost all organizations leaders belonging to the poultry industry were actively participated the event. Besides poultry scientist, senior officials of the DLS were participated in this workshop. Mr. Mahabubur Rahman, President, Breeders Association of Bangladesh thanked all those who attended the event and made the event successfully.
