SASSO Hosts ‘Breeding for Value’ Seminar in Dhaka, Highlighting Genetic Progress and Market Adaptation & Technical Mangement

Staff Correspondent:SASSO successfully hosted its daylong Breeding for Value Seminar on June 16, 2025, at the Holiday Inn Dhaka City Centre, gathering poultry industry professionals, breeders, and technical experts from across the country. Held in the Seminar Hall (Ilish, Level-16), the event focused on sharing recent advancements in SASSO’s traditional poultry breeding programs, with particular emphasis on how their genetics align with the needs of the Bangladesh market.

The seminar began with a welcome address by Edouard Perrault, Deputy Director of SASSO, who also introduced the company’s research and development initiatives tailored for Bangladesh. He was followed by technical presentations from global and regional experts including Alba Mesas, Ali Haider, and Md Mahiuddin from SASSO, alongside Dr. Myeong Seob Kim from Hipra, who shared valuable insights into respiratory disease management in poultry.

Throughout the day, participants gained in-depth knowledge on a wide range of topics such as parent stock (PS) management, product performance in the local context, sexual maturity and egg weight optimization, field results, and effective strategies for poultry management in hot weather conditions. Md Mahiuddin and Edouard Perrault jointly presented on the evolution of SASSO products in the Bangladesh market, highlighting improvements in adaptability, productivity, and farmer feedback.

Special attention was given to the topic of co-infections in poultry, with Dr. Kim presenting two sessions on understanding and controlling respiratory diseases, underscoring the complexity and importance of comprehensive disease prevention.

Interactive Q&A sessions followed each major segment, allowing attendees to engage directly with the speakers. A lunch and prayer break at midday, along with a later afternoon tea break, provided attendees the opportunity to network and refresh during the intensive program.

The seminar concluded with a networking dinner, offering a relaxed setting for further exchange among industry stakeholders. The event was well received for its practical relevance, scientific depth, and strong commitment to supporting poultry producers and the broader livestock sector in Bangladesh.
