Staff Correspondent: A day-long seminar on “Pet Health and Disease Diagnosis” was held on Saturday at the M Mahbub Uzzaman Academic Building of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka. The event brought together leading veterinarians, academics, and policymakers to discuss emerging trends and challenges in pet healthcare.
The event was organized by the Bangladesh Small Animal Veterinary Association (BASAVA) & sponsored by Navana Pharmaceuticals PLC (Veterinary Division).
The morning session, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, featured Dr. Safiul Ahad Sarder, Convener of the Bangladesh Veterinary Association (BVA), as Special Guest. The afternoon session, from 12:31 PM to 4:00 PM, was attended by Dr. Gopal Chandra Biswas, Acting Registrar of the Bangladesh Veterinary Council (BVC), and Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, SAU. Dr. Sagir Uddin Ahmed, Vice-president of the Bangladesh Small Animal Veterinary Association (BASAVA), presided over the programme.
Speakers stressed the importance of early disease detection, responsible pet ownership, and modern veterinary diagnostics. Scientific papers were presented by Dr. Abdul Mannan, Director (In-charge) and Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer of the Teaching and Training Pet Hospital and Research Center, Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, and Prof. Dr. KHM Nazmul Hussain Nazir, General Secretary of BASAVA.
Proceedings were conducted by Dr. Md. Zafrul Hasan Shuvo, Office Secretary of BASAVA, under the overall supervision of Dr. H.M. Nazmul Haq, Treasurer of the association.
