ISDE will distribute food packets to 60,000 families with support from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center

Agrilife24.com"Food packets will be distributed among 60,000 poor families in Bangladesh through the initiative of the private development organization ISDE Bangladesh, with the assistance of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center of Saudi Arabia. Among these, 42,000 packets will be distributed to the Rohingya community and 18,000 to the host community in Cox's Bazar. Under ISDE's project 'Emergency Food Assistance for Rohingya and Host Community in Bangladesh,' each family will receive 10 kg of rice, 7 kg of lentils, 3 liters of soybean oil, 1 kg of sugar, and 1 kg of salt as part of this assistance. On Monday, March 2, 2026, in Dhaka, the food distribution program was inaugurated at an informal ceremony at the Saudi Embassy by His Excellency Mr. Ibrahim Alhamari, Deputy Ambassador of the Saudi Embassy, Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi, representative of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, Vice President of the CAB Central Committee and Executive Director of ISDE Bangladesh S M Nazer Hossain along with senior officials was present the inaguartion. Mr. Yasir Sheshah, the Director of Political and Media Affairs at the Saudi Embassy, hosts the program.

Under the work schedule, on 03 March 2026, 1050 food packets were distributed among families at T&T Girls' High School, Mohakhali, Mohakhali Wireless Gate area and 1750 food packs in Pallabi Vidya Niketan (formerly Bangabandhu Niketan), Milk Vita Road, Section-7, Mirpur; on 04 March at Silicon Prantik Road 13, Sekertoyak, Adabar 1070, Mohammadpur; and on 05 March at Raybazar High School, Raybazar, Dhanmondi 1130. Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi, Representatives from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, S M Nazer Hossain, Vice President of the CAB Central Committee and Executive Director of ISDE, Rebeka Saniat, Executive Director of Coalition for Urban Poor (CUP), Aminur Rasul (Babul), Treasurer of BAPA and Board Member of the Water Development Board, prominent women leader Masuda Faruk Ratna, ADAB Director AKM Jasim Uddin, ISDE program coordinator Md. Jahangir Alam, along with other officials were present at all these food packet distribution events.

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has launched a humanitarian assistance program in 15 countries around the world, including Bangladesh, to provide food security support. This humanitarian assistance program is part of the global food aid initiative, which works to support financially disadvantaged populations and ensure food security in 15 countries. Bangladesh is also among the beneficiary countries of this initiative. This year, King Salman Humanitarian Aid is distributing 60,000 food baskets in Bangladesh for Rohingya refugees and local beneficiaries. These will help meet the basic food and nutritional needs of disadvantaged populations and alleviate the food insecurity of affected families.

This is the fifth humanitarian relief operation by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, which is part of Saudi Arabia's commitment to international humanitarian principles and its ongoing efforts to ensure global food security. Through rapid distribution, the organization ensures that aid reaches the populations most in need in a timely manner.

At the event, His Excellency Ibrahim Alhamari, Deputy Chief of the Saudi Embassy, said, "This initiative will be implemented in coordination with relevant partners to ensure that aid reaches the right people in a timely manner and its impact on the ground is maximized. It highlights our mission to provide neutral, effective, and sustainable humanitarian assistance." He further added that the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has continued to expand its global relief programs, playing a significant role in worldwide humanitarian aid and food security.

S M Nazer Hossain, Vice President of the CAB Central Committee and Executive Director of ISDE, expressing gratitude to Saudi Arabia's King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center for this initiative, said that for the 60,000 underprivileged families in Bangladesh receiving this food assistance, it will certainly help to some extent in overcoming food and nutrition shortages. During the holy month of Ramadan, people's earnings usually decrease while the costs of food and other family needs increase. This assistance will be very helpful for families in compensating for the loss.
